What We Do

A group of citizens and conservation groups concerned about the effect of haphazard growth on quality of life in the Richmond region founded Partnership for Smarter Growth (PSG) in 2004.  After functioning as a project of the Virginia League of Conservation Voters-Education Fund for six years, PSG became an independent non-profit organization in 2010.

PSG brings individuals, organizations, businesses, and governments together to work toward balanced growth in our Richmond region.  PSG encourages our communities - whether urban, suburban, or rural - to become a part of the solution.  Through programs, publications, advocacy, and dialogue, PSG promotes a strong Downtown core, connected neighborhoods, better housing and transportation options, conservation, and civic engagement.  When everyone comes to the table, the result is a stronger economy and healthier communities.
