Envision Henrico
Envision Henrico is group of citizens dedicated to working together for a healthy future for Henrico County and beyond. The organization promotes the concept that growth can be channeled to underutilized, already paved over spaces to strengthen existing communities, rather than consuming more farmland, forests, and open spaces.
Vision:
Envision Henrico strives toward a county in which growth is managed to provide a healthy and sustainable environment for all its citizens, for future generations, and planned to conserve its vast cultural, historic, and natural resources.
Mission:
Envision Henrico works to preserve and protect Henrico’s land, environment, history, and quality of life, by monitoring and influencing how and where we grow, and by advocating for strong public participation in local land use and transportation decisions.
Goals:
Envision Henrico will specifically accomplish the following objectives:
- Promote better models for development, guided by the principles of smart growth, environmental protection, community character, transportation alternatives, diversified economic development, recreation and parks promotion, watershed protection, and regional cooperation.
- Promote transparency in Henrico’s government
- Promote public input as critically important and essential throughout the Comprehensive Plan process.
- Provide a forum for discussion and review of relevant growth-related and rezoning issues.
- Inform and connect interested citizens and organize community response as necessary.
- Coordinate presence at all Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission meetings
- Partner with federal, state, and local governments, Partnership for Smarter Growth, Virginia League of Conservation Voters-Education Fund, and other organizations, to build a better Henrico together.

Cochairs are Jeanne McNeil and Lynn Wilson. Steering Committee members are Jane Koontz and Nicole Anderson Ellis.
Past efforts:
Envision Henrico played an active role in the 2026 Henrico County Comprehensive Plan process, working to ensure that the plan with the amendment introduced by Supervisor Jim Donati reflected citizens wishes to preserve Varina's agricultural heritage and economy.
Envision Henrico has also co-hosted conservation related events.
